The IX World Congress Aviation in the XXI Century kicked off today, September 22. “Aviation safety and space technology” is the main topic, which will leading national and foreign experts, researchers, and aviation experts will be discussing for three days.

Rector of National Aviation University Volodymyr Isaienko has opened the plenary session, stressing that “the Congress encourages the adoption of new conceptual solutions on pressing issues in the aerospace industry. Also, participants have a great opportunity to express their vision of global trends in aerospace technology in today’s political and economic realities, while reviewing practical, experimental, and theoretical achievements in the field of civil aviation.

Salvatore Sciacchitano, President of the ICAO Council, delivered a video address, greeting Congress participants, noting NAU’s important contribution in educating entire generations of aviators trained in line with the recommendations of the International Civil Aviation Association. He noted that the development of international civil aviation has never stopped, but only gained momentum; and that only by tackling challenges can the parties further develop and reach new highs.

Philippe Merlo, chief of the European Organization for the Safety of Air Navigation (EUROCONTROL), has assured that the organization will continue to support stakeholders, including National Aviation University. In quarantine-related crisis all members of the aviation community are facing, Philip Marlowe sees not only limitations but also new opportunities for improvement, including the ability to address the issue of implementing systemic research into alternative energy sources; digitizing a new navigation system that will become more flexible; introducing IT developments in management and services.

Henrik Hololei, Director General for Mobility and Transport of the European Commission, emphasized the need to protect passengers and industry. Parties must ensure the safety of passengers and staff by changing approaches and developing new protocols for the future, the official noted, adding that it’s only through international cooperation and strengthening international relations that the efforts could see success.

Today’s world-class experts expressed their views on the priorities of today’s aviation world. Among them were Jean-Marc Cluzeau, Innovation Manager, Chief Adviser to the Executive Director of the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA); Director of the Institute of Air, Space and Cyber ​​Law at the University of Cologne Stephan Hobe; Director General of the Directorate of Science and Innovation at the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine Yulia Bezvershenko; Acting Director of the Ukrainian State Air Traffic Services Enterprise (UkSATSE) Andriy Yarmak; President of the Polish Air Navigation Services Agency (PANSA) Janusz Janiszewski; Rector of the International University of Logistics and Transport of Wrocław Marcin Paweska; Director of the Main Astronomical Observatory of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Yaroslav Yatskiv; and Director of the State Aviation Administration of the Republic of Moldova Eugen Costei.

The discussion panel was also attended by: Professor of the Higher Institute of Technology of the State University of Lisbon Luiz Manuel Braga da Costa Campos; Professor of the Faculty of Aeronautics and Cosmonautics, Eskisehir Technical University Hikmet Karakos; Adviser to the Ministry of Communications and IT of the Government of India Nishakant Ojha, and other leading national and foreign experts in education and science, aviation and industry.

The IX World Congress Aviation in the XXI Century – Aviation Safety and Space Technology is being held September 22-24, 2020, via video conference. The Congress aims to analyze global trends and review practical, experimental, and theoretical achievements in the field of civil aviation.
